Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has refused to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Zelensky, citing the ongoing attacks on Ukraine, said he would not go to what he termed the capital of terrorists. Instead, he suggested Putin could meet him in Kyiv.

Zelensky views the Moscow meeting proposal as a sign of Russia’s disinterest in peace negotiations. Former US President Donald Trump has been actively working to facilitate a meeting between Zelensky and Putin. The two leaders met in Alaska the previous month to discuss the framework for a potential summit.
