Waqf Amendment Bill: JPC meeting will be held from tomorrow to finalize the draft of JPC report on Waqf Amendment Bill. Since the Waqf Amendment Bill will be presented in the upcoming budget session, the committee will meet for two days on January 24 and 25 to discuss the draft clause-by-clause. The meeting will start tomorrow at 11 am. According to sources, JPC can submit its report to the Lok Sabha Speaker on 27 or 28 January. The Central Government has made complete preparations to present the Waqf Amendment Bill in the budget session. Now JPC has also started finalizing the report.

The committee has received many amendments to be included in the bill. Those amendments will also be discussed in the two-day meeting and if necessary, voting will take place. It is noteworthy that some opposition party members of JPC had demanded to postpone the JPC meeting to 30th and 31st, which was not accepted by the JPC Chairman.
