Footage from the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, features Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s interaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The video shows Sharif’s keenness to meet Putin during a group photo opportunity. After the official photographs, as Putin proceeded with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Sharif quickly stepped forward, reaching out to greet Putin. Although Putin initially moved ahead, he turned back to shake hands with Sharif. Pakistan’s efforts to improve relations with Russia started earlier, with previous leaders also seeking stronger diplomatic ties. Sharif has had multiple meetings with Putin and has also invited him to visit Pakistan.
