In a bold response to late-night US airstrikes on Caracas, the Venezuelan government issued a scathing official statement on Saturday. Accusing Donald Trump’s administration of a grave military aggression, Caracas vowed unwavering resistance.

The statement highlighted the attacks as a desperate bid to seize Venezuela’s strategic resources, particularly its vast oil and mineral reserves, while undermining the nation’s political sovereignty. ‘This assault reeks of imperial ambitions,’ officials declared.

Residents in Caracas reported hearing aircraft overhead around 2 AM Friday, followed by at least seven powerful explosions that shook the capital. Panic spread as people fled into the streets amid confusion and fear. Videos circulating on social media show thick smoke rising from multiple locations, though unverified.

President Maduro promptly declared a national emergency, activating all national defense plans. This grants authorities powers to suspend civil rights and bolster armed forces mobilization.

‘Venezuelans rise once more with the spirit of Bolivar and Miranda to defend our freedom,’ the government urged, calling citizens to the streets. Labeling the strikes a violation of the UN Charter, Caracas affirmed, ‘They will not succeed. After over 200 years of independence, our people and legitimate government stand firm in sovereignty.’

Power outages hit several areas, including military bases, with minor telecom disruptions reported. No official casualty or damage figures have been released as investigations continue.
