A devastating vehicle accident in West Virginia resulted in the deaths of four elderly members of an Indian-origin family, who had gone missing while on a pilgrimage. The Marshall County Sheriff Mike Doherty confirmed the tragic incident on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Kishore Diwan, 89, Asha Diwan, 85, Shailesh Diwan, 86, and Geeta Diwan, 84. They were traveling from Buffalo to Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold in Marshall County in a 2009 green Toyota Camry with New York license plate EKW2611. The Sheriff’s Department reported that all four died in the accident. The vehicle and the bodies were discovered at the bottom of a steep embankment on Big Wheeling Creek Road around 9:30 pm on Saturday. Rescue teams worked at the scene for approximately five hours. Sheriff Doherty offered his condolences to the families of the victims and stated that further details would be provided after the investigation. The family was last seen on July 29 at a Burger King in Pennsylvania. They were en route to Mountsville, West Virginia, via Pittsburgh. Police teams from Marshall and Ohio counties were involved in the search. Information about the vehicle was also added to the National Crime Information Center, and a missing persons report was filed in Buffalo. The Council of Heritage and Arts of India (CHAI), a volunteer organization based in Williamsville, New York, assisted in the search. Sibu Nair, the organization’s president, expressed concern.
