Following a visit by Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir, the United States has issued a joint statement, expressing its appreciation for Pakistan’s fight against terrorism. The statement, released after the Pakistan-U.S. Counter-Terrorism Dialogue, commended Pakistan’s efforts in curbing terrorist organizations and offered condolences for victims of terrorist acts. The U.S. acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in the ongoing fight against terrorism, recognizing the importance of these efforts for regional and global stability. The joint statement, released by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, specifically highlighted the U.S.’s recognition of Pakistan’s continuous success in combating terrorist organizations. The U.S. also conveyed sympathies for the victims of terrorist incidents in Pakistan, including the Jafer Express attack and the bombing of a school bus in Khuzdar. A day before the joint statement, the U.S. had declared the BLA and its affiliate, the Majid Brigade, as terrorist organizations. The BLA has been engaged in insurgent activities against the Pakistani government. The joint statement comes after Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir’s recent trip to Washington, where he met with American officials.
