Washington is poised to deepen its strategic partnership with India, according to US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor. This comes on the heels of a high-level visit by India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to the United States from February 2 to 4.

During the trip, Jaishankar held key meetings with top American officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. These discussions underscored the growing momentum in bilateral relations across multiple fronts.

Ambassador Gor welcomed the recent leader-level engagements, sharing images of Jaishankar’s meetings on social media. ‘Conversations at the highest levels are underway. America is ready to take this partnership to new heights. Unlimited potential,’ he posted.

A highlight was Jaishankar’s participation in a Critical Minerals Ministerial meeting convened by Rubio. There, he voiced India’s strong support for international cooperation to mitigate risks in critical mineral supply chains, a vital area amid global supply disruptions.

In separate sessions, Jaishankar and Rubio delved into a broad agenda encompassing trade, energy, nuclear cooperation, defense, essential minerals, and technology. ‘Delighted to meet Secretary Rubio this afternoon. Wide-ranging conversation covering our bilateral cooperation agenda, regional and global issues,’ Jaishankar noted on X post-meeting.

The talks also paved the way for follow-up meetings to advance shared interests. Meanwhile, Jaishankar’s dialogue with Bessent focused on strengthening the economic partnership and strategic collaboration between the two nations.

‘Pleased to meet Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent today in Washington DC. Discussions on working together to advance the India-US economic partnership and strategic cooperation,’ Jaishankar shared separately.

These engagements signal a robust phase in India-US relations, with both sides committed to expanding cooperation in an increasingly interconnected world. As geopolitical tensions rise, such partnerships are crucial for stability and prosperity.
