A senior US Administration official clarified that the new $100,000 H-1B visa fee is only for new applicants. Existing visa holders and those traveling outside the US, including those visiting India, are not required to rush back to avoid the fee. The official’s statement highlights that the new fee does not impact current H-1B visa holders. The government is still studying the implications of the new rule, and has recognized that the Indian industry has provided an initial analysis on the H-1B program.
