Washington has united with key Gulf nations in a sharp rebuke of Iran’s recent missile and drone barrages across the Middle East. Following strikes by Israel and the United States, Tehran retaliated with attacks that struck multiple sovereign territories, prompting a joint statement from America and six Gulf countries branding the actions as a ‘dangerous escalation’ threatening regional stability.

The collective condemnation came from the governments of the US, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. In their unified declaration, they denounced the ‘reckless and irresponsible’ missile and drone assaults launched by the Islamic Republic of Iran against sovereign areas.

These attacks impacted a wide swath of nations, including Bahrain, Iraq (encompassing the Iraqi Kurdistan region), Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The statement highlighted how the strikes targeted civilian areas, endangered innocent lives, and inflicted damage on critical infrastructure.

Labeling Tehran’s moves as a direct violation of international norms, the countries warned that such aggression undermines the sovereignty of multiple states and jeopardizes peace in the region. They specifically accused Iran of hitting nations not directly involved in any hostilities, calling it a ‘reckless and destabilizing’ approach.

The seven nations reaffirmed their commitment to security cooperation and collective defense. ‘We stand united to protect our citizens, sovereignty, and the region,’ the statement read, underscoring their right to self-defense. They also praised ongoing regional air defense efforts that mitigated potential widespread devastation.

This comes amid rising tensions where missile and drone confrontations have become central to the Iran-regional powers rift. Iran’s bolstered missile and UAV capabilities have shifted the security balance, according to Western and Gulf analysts, despite Tehran’s insistence that its programs are purely defensive. The US maintains military bases across the Gulf, with long-standing defense pacts bolstering integrated air defenses against Iranian threats.
