The recent military clashes between Israel and Iran included assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists and military leaders. Allegations point to Israeli spies operating within Iran as key contributors to the weakening of Iran’s defenses. These actions are attributed to Mossad, indicating a significant level of penetration within Iran’s security apparatus. In the aftermath of the conflict, Iran has executed several individuals on charges of spying for Israel. Rouzbeh Vadi was recently executed for allegedly working as a Mossad agent. Iranian authorities have provided details on how Israel is enlisting Iranian citizens.

In 2011, a research paper was presented at the 18th Iranian Nuclear Energy Conference by three Iranian nuclear scientists: Abdulhamid Minouchehr, Ahmadreza Zolfaghari Daryani, and Rouzbeh Vadi. All three are now deceased. Two were assassinated by Israel, and one was executed by Iran.

On June 13th, Israel struck, killing Minouchehr and Zolfaghari. Subsequently, on August 5th, Rouzbeh Vadi was executed for espionage. Iranian television aired a video of Vadi admitting to sharing information with Mossad about a nuclear facility targeted by Israel, along with details on an Iranian nuclear scientist.

Iranian judiciary sources state that Rouzbeh Vadi was contacted through a virtual social network. He traveled to Vienna under the guise of a training course, where he met Mossad officials on five occasions. The judiciary’s statement does not address the duration of Vadi’s detention. The Iranian Human Rights Organization reports that Vadi was arrested around February 2024 and remained in custody until his execution.
