Following airstrikes in Qatar, Israel is turning its attention toward Turkey. Israeli media is speculating that Turkey is the next target because Hamas has established its last major stronghold there. Hamas leaders have been given refuge in Turkey for a long time. Key Hamas leaders have been in Istanbul for years, where they handle financial transactions and plan terrorist attacks. Doha has always been in the role of mediator in the Israel-Hamas war, so no one expected Israel to attack there. The recent attack, however, makes it clear that Israel will not let Hamas operate in peace anywhere. According to some reports, Washington has also given its silent consent to this action. This means that Hamas now has very little chance of receiving international political protection.
