In a bold move to slash prescription drug costs, President Donald Trump unveiled TrumpRx.gov, a federal website promising steep discounts on dozens of commonly used medications. Speaking from the White House on February 6, Trump hailed it as the biggest reduction in drug prices in American history, dubbing it a ‘very big deal’ that will save lives and wallets alike.
Trump emphasized the site’s simplicity: Americans can visit TrumpRx.gov to access printable or digital coupons redeemable at pharmacies for discounted prices on prescription drugs. ‘People will save a lot of money and be healthy,’ he declared, linking the initiative to his ‘America First’ health policy and longstanding election pledges.
The core of the program revolves around the ‘Most Favored Nation’ pricing model. Trump argued that while other wealthy nations buy U.S.-made drugs at rock-bottom prices, Americans pay triple. ‘We were subsidizing the world’s drug costs for too long,’ he said. Now, drug companies must match their lowest global prices for the U.S. market.
Sixteen of the world’s top 17 pharmaceutical giants have signed pricing agreements, with the last expected soon. New drugs entering the U.S. will also adhere to this lowest-price rule. Trump credited his tariff threats: ‘I warned them—if they didn’t lower prices here, tariffs would hike costs abroad. They agreed because of my policy.’
Mehmet Oz, Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, urged immediate use: ‘One in three Americans gets turned away at the pharmacy unable to afford meds. Today, you can access these discounts.’ The site launched with over 40 drugs from AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly, EMD Serono, Novo Nordisk, and Pfizer, with more manufacturers joining.
Joe Gabbia, U.S. Chief Design Officer, detailed the user-friendly platform, which will regularly add drugs. This follows Trump’s May 12, 2025 executive order mandating most-favored-nation pricing, letters to drug firms, and September 2025 agreements. On January 15, 2026, Trump called on Congress for his ‘Great Healthcare Plan’ to boost transparency.
As drug affordability crises grip families, TrumpRx.gov positions the administration as a champion against Big Pharma, potentially reshaping healthcare access nationwide.
