In a bold move to stabilize Gaza, President Donald Trump has extended invitations to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to join the newly formed ‘Board of Peace’ for the region. This executive panel, announced by the White House, aims to oversee Gaza’s transitional governance amid ongoing tensions.

The board includes high-profile figures such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, World Bank President Ajay Banga, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Their mandate spans governance, regional diplomacy, reconstruction financing, and investment mobilization, marking a comprehensive approach to Gaza’s recovery.

Turkey’s presidential office confirmed receiving Trump’s letter inviting Erdogan, while Egypt’s foreign minister revealed that Sisi’s invitation is under active review. Tony Blair expressed honor at being selected to aid Gaza’s rebuilding efforts.

The White House emphasized the board’s role in providing strategic oversight, coordinating international resources, and ensuring accountability during the shift from conflict to development. Plans also include deploying an international stabilization force and appointing a high representative for governance, security, and reconstruction coordination.

This initiative comes as sporadic clashes and airstrikes persist despite an October ceasefire that halted large-scale hostilities. Hamas’s refusal to disarm keeps lasting peace elusive, underscoring the urgency of Trump’s peace framework.
