US President Donald Trump has tempered expectations regarding his potential Nobel Peace Prize win, stating he is uncertain about the outcome. Speaking alongside Finland’s President Alexander Stubb, Trump acknowledged the speculation but redirected the conversation toward his diplomatic successes. He boldly claimed to have resolved seven wars during his presidency and anticipates a newly brokered ceasefire in Gaza will bring his total to eight. Trump recounted his efforts to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan, describing the two nuclear powers as being on the verge of a conflict. He attributed his success to economic pressure, specifically mentioning the use of trade tariffs. ‘I used tariffs to stop a nuclear conflict,’ Trump declared, explaining that the threat of substantial tariffs led to an immediate cessation of fighting. While downplaying the importance of the Nobel Prize, Trump underscored the humanitarian aspect of his actions, asserting, ‘I saved a lot of lives.’ He also pointed to his administration’s unique achievement of ending multiple long-standing conflicts in a relatively short period, challenging historical precedents.
