Donald Trump responded to media criticism regarding the August 15 summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, denying that it was a ‘major defeat.’ In a Truth Social post, Trump addressed the narrative promoted by ‘Fake News’ outlets, which claimed a negative outcome. He argued that the summit’s location was a significant factor. Moreover, Trump criticized Democrats, accusing them of wanting increased crime in cities. He asserted that he would prevent this, citing the secure southern border as an example. The Alaska Summit, intended to address the Ukraine conflict, concluded earlier in the week. Trump characterized the day as ‘great and very successful’ and advocated for a ‘peace agreement.’ He reported positive interactions with President Putin, as well as discussions involving Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, European leaders, and the NATO Secretary General. The collective agreement was that a peace agreement was essential to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
