Washington, January 15 – In a staunch defense of federal immigration enforcement, President Donald Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan dismissed accusations that ICE operations resemble dictatorial tactics. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Homan stood firm against criticism over recent ICE actions in Minneapolis and other cities, calling the backlash ‘very strange.’
Homan pointed the finger at sanctuary policies and previous administrations, arguing they force agents into dangerous community pursuits instead of secure jail pickups. ‘The Biden administration allowed millions of illegal aliens to enter, many unchecked criminals,’ he stated, crediting Trump’s enforcement drive with thousands of arrests.
While Trump recently claimed ICE is pursuing millions of murderers, Homan refrained from endorsing specific figures. ‘I don’t have that data,’ he said, but emphasized that 65-70% of those arrested by ICE have criminal records. Since Trump took office, around 650,000 formal deportations have occurred, targeting ‘bad actors.’
Homan highlighted the heightened risks to agents, noting death threats up 8000% and assaults surging 1300%. Threats against him and his family have tripled recently. ‘Sanctuary releases push us into neighborhoods, endangering officers, aliens, and communities alike,’ he warned.
As debates rage over immigration enforcement’s intensity, Homan’s remarks underscore the Trump administration’s unyielding commitment to border security, framing critics as enablers of chaos.
