The interim government of Nepal has barred former Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, along with several other high-profile figures, from leaving the country. Those affected by the travel restrictions include former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, former Home Secretary Gokarnamani Duwadi, former National Investigation Department chief Hutraj Thapa, and ex-Kathmandu Chief District Officer Chhabi Rizal. The decision was made by a three-member committee formed to investigate the protests that took place in Nepal on September 8 and 9.

The investigation committee is comprised of former Supreme Court judge Gauri Bahadur Karki, former police officer Bigyan Ran Sharma, and legal expert Bishweshwar Prasad Bhandari. The committee is expected to submit its report within three months. The violent demonstrations in Nepal resulted in 72 deaths, including three police officers. K.P. Sharma Oli resigned from his post following the unrest.
