According to US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, India is expected to express remorse and seek a trade deal with the United States. Lutnick believes India will recognize its need for the US market. In a television interview, Lutnick mentioned that India will likely be at the table in a month or two, ready to apologize and negotiate with Donald Trump. Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, expressing concern that the US has lost India and Russia to China. His comments followed the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting in Tianjin, where India, Russia, and China were together. Trump shared an older image of the three leaders: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump previously accused Chinese President Xi Jinping of actions against America.
