President Donald Trump faces a critical decision as he considers the United States’ role in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran. With a two-week deadline, the White House is deliberating whether to support Israel militarily or to focus on diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing crisis. The conflict began with Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, followed by Iranian missile attacks, placing the US in a difficult foreign policy position.

On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a surprise operation targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities and military bases. Iran retaliated with missile strikes, including an attack on an Israeli hospital, leading to significant casualties on both sides. Israel’s primary objective is to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, particularly the fortified Fordow enrichment facility. Israeli leaders are pressing the US to join the attacks, believing this to be the only method to fully stop Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump’s previous comments often reflected a desire to avoid Middle East wars, aligning with his ‘America First’ strategy. However, the US president’s responses after the Israeli attack have shown signs of support for Benjamin Netanyahu. He has stated that Iran must completely surrender its nuclear ambitions, and has kept military action as a possible choice. Despite this, the US has left the door open to peace talks.

If Trump decides on military action, the US could provide key support, including advanced weaponry, logistical assistance, and potential direct combat involvement. The US military has already sent additional assets to the Middle East in preparation for either offensive or defensive operations. Iran has warned that it will inflict serious damage if the US gets involved.

Various factors are influencing Trump’s choice, including internal and external pressures. Some of his supporters caution against entering another Middle East war, while others are urging Trump to choose the military option. Many countries are pushing for a peaceful resolution. Trump’s decision will greatly affect the region and have serious consequences for the US.
