Due to a technical fault in the Air India Express flight going from Trichy, Tamil Nadu to Sharjah, the Air India Express flight was in the air for three hours. Due to the wisdom of the pilot, the plane made an emergency landing at Trichy Airport. There were 141 passengers on board the plane. All passengers are safe.
The flight with 144 passengers took off at 5.40 pm and a malfunction was reported soon after. The plane was asked to return. Since it was not advisable to attempt a safe landing with full fuel, the pilots spilled some of the fuel from the aircraft while flying around the airport. After this an emergency landing was made.
Complete preparations were made for emergency landing by stopping the movement of all aircraft at the airport. Adequate number of ambulances were also kept ready along with fire engines. During this time, the breathing of the passengers aboard the plane as well as the officers and employees present at the airport remained holding their breath. Everyone kept praying for the safe landing of the plane and it was successful.
Arrangements for alternative aircraft are being made for passengers
The pilot remained in constant touch with Air Traffic Control (ATC). The plane landed without any problem. An internal investigation into the incident has been started. The aviation regulatory body, DGCA has been informed. Air India Express spokesperson issued a statement saying that we are sorry for the inconvenience. We reiterate our commitment to prioritizing safety in every aspect of our operations. An alternative aircraft is being arranged for the journey.
