The viral images include the wives of figures such as Kasmat Bibi (wife of a diplomat in Peshawar), Najiba Saleem (wife of the Afghan ambassador to Iran), and Farida Amin (wife of an official stationed in Basic). The incident raises serious questions about the Taliban’s governance.

The issue of women’s education, rights, and freedom has been a constant concern in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. The former president, Hamid Karzai, has also been criticized by the Taliban. The Taliban government has stated that they are implementing Islamic policies, which permit girls to receive religious education but not scientific education.
