In the wake of conflicting reports concerning the execution of Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, convicted of murdering Yemeni national Talal Abdo Mahdi in 2017, Talal’s brother, Abdelfattah Mehdi, has clarified the family’s stance. He has vehemently denied meeting with any Indian delegates, Sufi leaders, or the Grand Mufti, debunking reports that suggest a delay in execution or acceptance of ‘blood money.’ Mehdi has accused Indian media of misrepresenting the situation and portraying Nimisha as a victim.

Mehdi’s statement criticized embassy officials and legal representatives for allegedly delaying the implementation of justice. He reiterated the family’s resolve, stating that they demand justice according to the law of Allah (Sharia) and are not open to negotiation. The family’s position remains steadfast: Nimisha Priya must face execution.
