The formidable Super Typhoon Ragasa, having already left a trail of destruction across Taiwan and the Philippines, is headed towards southern China, with an expected landfall near Taishan and Zhanjiang. In Taiwan, the city of Hualien has been particularly hard hit, with at least 14 confirmed fatalities and 124 people missing following a dam breach that caused widespread flooding. A significant rescue operation involving 240 troops is currently active in the affected areas.
