A major defense agreement, modeled on the NATO framework, has been finalized between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. This agreement signifies that an assault on either nation will be considered an act of aggression against both. A joint statement from the two countries highlights the agreement’s objective: to bolster security and foster global peace. Furthermore, the pact includes plans for the expansion of defense cooperation. India is keeping a close watch on the developments arising from this agreement.

The Indian government has responded to the Saudi Arabia-Pakistan agreement, with Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal indicating prior awareness of the pact. The government intends to assess the agreement’s ramifications for national security, along with its impact on regional and international stability.

Jaiswal also affirmed India’s commitment to defending its national interests and ensuring holistic national security. The signing ceremony took place in Riyadh, attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
