Washington is intensifying diplomatic efforts amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, where the US-Israel standoff with Iran enters its sixth day. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held urgent talks with foreign ministers from Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia to forge a united front against the crisis.

Rubio’s first call was with Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. The duo delved into the latest developments in Iran and across the region, reaffirming the robust partnership between Washington and Rome. This exchange underscored Italy’s pivotal role as a key European ally in Mediterranean diplomacy.

Next, Rubio connected with Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. Discussions centered on Iran’s actions and broader Middle East instability, with both sides pledging to strengthen ties between Washington and Nicosia. Cyprus’s strategic position amplifies its importance in these high-stakes conversations.

In a critical dialogue, Rubio spoke with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. He firmly stated that attacks on Turkey’s sovereign territory are unacceptable, offering full US backing. As a NATO member bridging Europe and the Middle East, Turkey’s alignment is vital for regional security.

Rubio also engaged Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, thanking Riyadh for its response to the attack on the US embassy. They addressed threats from the Iranian regime to regional stability and energy markets, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s central influence.

These coordinated calls signal America’s strategy to align European and Gulf partners. With Iran tensions threatening global security, Rubio’s outreach aims to build a cohesive diplomatic response, preventing further escalation and safeguarding shared interests.
