In a shocking incident that has rattled the Punjabi community in Canada, prominent social media influencer and vocal critic of Khalistani extremism, Nancy Grewal, was brutally stabbed to death in her home in LaSalle, Ontario. The 45-year-old YouTuber, known for her outspoken commentary on Punjab-related issues, Indian politics, and diaspora concerns, was attacked on March 3 around 9:30 PM local time.

Emergency services rushed to her residence on Todd Lane after reports of a stabbing. Paramedics from Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services found Grewal bleeding profusely and rushed her to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after. As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators from LaSalle Police Service are working tirelessly to track down the perpetrators.

Grewal had built a significant following online through her candid videos. She frequently called out Khalistani hardliners, including leaders like Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of the banned Sikhs for Justice group. In her content, she accused such figures of being influenced by foreign powers to defame Sikh institutions and divide communities. Grewal challenged supporters of the Khalistan movement to address issues in India rather than from abroad and condemned the misuse of gurdwaras for separatist propaganda.

The LaSalle Police Service issued a statement on Thursday, confirming the details of the incident. ‘LaSalle Police Service continues to investigate a homicide that occurred just before 9:30 PM on March 3 on Todd Lane. The victim is 45-year-old Nancy Grewal of Windsor. We extend our deepest condolences to Grewal’s family and friends. To ease public concerns, investigators are treating this as an isolated incident,’ the statement read.

Police have appealed for public assistance, urging residents in the area to share any video surveillance footage. The murder has sent shockwaves through the local Windsor-LaSalle Punjabi community and her online followers, many of whom are mourning the loss of a bold voice against extremism.

As the investigation unfolds, questions are being raised about the safety of critics of separatist movements within Canada’s diaspora. Grewal’s death serves as a grim reminder of the tensions simmering in overseas Punjabi circles, where debates over identity, politics, and allegiance often spill into real-world consequences.
