ISLAMABAD – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afreen has announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will stage a grand public rally at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Sunday. The event marks a significant push in PTI’s ongoing street agitation against the government.
In a video message shared on social media platform X, Afreen conveyed PTI founder Imran Khan’s message to the people of Sindh. He urged residents to fully back the party’s road movement, emphasizing unity and mobilization.
“My three-day visit includes several key activities,” Afreen stated. “Support PTI’s street campaign wholeheartedly. The highlight is Sunday’s rally at 4:30 PM at Mazar-e-Quaid. Start preparations now – we’re aiming for Karachi’s largest gathering ever.”
Afreen’s information secretary Shafi Jan revealed further details. The KP CM is scheduled to meet Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday, hold talks with PTI leadership at Insaf House, and visit the Press Club. This tour aims to accelerate the agitation drive.
The announcement comes amid PTI’s request for permission to hold a public meeting in Karachi. Earlier, PTI Karachi chapter president Raja Azhar wrote to the Deputy Commissioner East seeking approval for Bagh-e-Jinnah, assuring peaceful conduct and code of conduct compliance.
PTI forms part of the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ain-Pakistan (TTAP), which has called for protests marking two years since the controversial February 8, 2024 elections. TTAP Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Deputy Chairman Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas arrived in Lahore for a three-day visit to coordinate movement activities.
This rally underscores PTI’s determination to challenge the status quo, drawing massive crowds to amplify calls for justice and electoral accountability. With preparations underway, Sunday’s event could reshape political dynamics in Sindh.
