New Delhi, February 17. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has extended her hopes to Bangladesh’s new Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, calling on him to mend the strained relations between India and Bangladesh while ensuring the safety of Hindus in the country.
In an exclusive conversation, Chaturvedi emphasized the democratic values that brought Rahman to power. ‘I hope he upholds these principles and works tirelessly to restore the once-friendly ties between our nations,’ she stated. The MP highlighted recent months’ violence against Hindus, alleging it was fueled by Pakistani-backed extremists involving lynchings and murders. ‘Tarique Rahman must put a firm stop to this and ensure justice for those responsible,’ she added firmly.
Reflecting on the decades-long absence of male leadership in Bangladesh, Chaturvedi expressed optimism for a renewed era of democracy. She sharply criticized outgoing leader Muhammad Yunus, accusing him of acting as a puppet for Pakistan to sabotage India-Bangladesh relations. ‘Yunus turned a blind eye to Hindu-targeted atrocities, allowing killings and lynchings to persist unchecked,’ she remarked.
Shifting focus to international diplomacy, Chaturvedi praised French President Emmanuel Macron’s ongoing official visit to India. ‘The bond between India and France has always been one of friendship, built on a robust strategic partnership that strengthens with time,’ she noted. Defense ties, trade relations, shared democratic values, and commitment to a rules-based global order form the bedrock of this alliance, promising progress and improved quality of life for citizens of both nations.
