PM Surya Ghar Yojana: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced the government’s new scheme to encourage people to install solar panels on their rooftops. PM Modi said that with an investment of more than Rs 75 thousand crore, PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme aims to light one crore houses by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month. Under this scheme, people will be able to get 300 units of free electricity every month. Apart from this, people will also be able to sell excess electricity. The scheme was first announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the interim Budget 2024-25.
Regarding this scheme, PM Modi has told that the beneficiaries of the scheme will be given subsidy and it will be transferred directly to their bank accounts. PM Modi said, “From concrete subsidies given directly into people’s bank accounts to deeply concessional bank loans, the central government will ensure that there is no cost burden on the people.” The government will also encourage urban local bodies and panchayats to promote rooftop solar systems in their jurisdiction. PM Modi also said that at the same time, this scheme will generate more income, lower electricity bills and employment for the people.
How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana
Step 1First of all register on the portal in the following manner
First of all go to pmsuryaghar.gov.in and select your state. Then select the electricity distribution company. Now select the electricity consumer number. Enter your mobile number and mail ID.
Step 2
Log in with consumer number and mobile number. Apply for rooftop solar now.
Step 3
Now wait for approval. Get the plant installed from any registered vendor in your Discom.
Step 4
Once installation is complete, submit plant details and apply for net meter.
Step 5
Commissioning Certificate will be generated from the portal after installation of the net meter and inspection by the Discom.
Step 6
Once you get the commissioning report, submit your bank account details and canceled check through the portal. After this you will receive the subsidy within thirty days.
Know how much subsidy will be available on how many kilowatts?
If you want to install a three kilowatt solar panel, you will have to spend approximately Rs 1,26,000. The roof area of the house will be 300 feet. Out of this, you will get a subsidy of Rs 54 thousand from the government. That means the customer’s cost after subsidy will be around Rs 72 thousand. This will also save you about Rs 38 per day, which is more than Rs 14 thousand in a year. Whereas, if we talk about daily electricity generation, 12.96 kilowatt electricity can be generated per day.
