New Delhi witnessed a pivotal diplomatic gathering on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in crucial talks with foreign ministers from Arab nations at Bharat Mandapam. This meeting coincided with the second round of the India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (IAFMM), underscoring the deep-rooted historical and people-to-people connections between India and the Arab world.
PM Modi hosted the visiting dignitaries, including the Secretary General of the League of Arab States (LAS) and representatives from Arab leaders. The discussions highlighted India’s unwavering commitment to deepening collaboration across key sectors such as trade, investment, energy, technology, and health. Modi emphasized the timeless bonds that have long united the two regions, fostering mutual prosperity.
In a strong reaffirmation of India’s stance, the Prime Minister reiterated support for the Palestinian people and welcomed ongoing peace initiatives, including the Gaza peace plan. He praised the Arab League’s vital role in promoting regional stability and peace efforts.
Looking ahead, PM Modi outlined a visionary roadmap for the India-Arab partnership, pledging to expand cooperation in all vital areas for shared benefits. The meeting, co-chaired by India and the UAE, brings together foreign ministers and senior representatives from all 22 LAS member states.
This significant forum, the largest institutional mechanism between India and the LAS, revives momentum after a decade-long gap—the last such meeting occurred in Bahrain in 2016. Established through a 2002 MoU, it sets the direction for enhanced bilateral ties. Officials anticipate the second IAFMM will propel existing partnerships to new heights, fostering deeper integration and growth.
