In a historic moment for India-Israel ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the prestigious ‘Speaker of the Knesset Medal’ from Israel’s parliament on Wednesday. This marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has been bestowed with this highest honor by the Knesset in Jerusalem.

The award recognizes Modi’s outstanding contributions to strengthening strategic partnerships between the two nations. Speaking after the ceremony, PM Modi expressed profound gratitude to the Knesset for the recognition, highlighting the deep bonds forged through shared values and mutual cooperation.

Addressing the assembled members, Modi announced a significant development: the Indian Parliament has established a Parliamentary Friendship Group dedicated to Israel. ‘I am delighted to inform this esteemed house of this initiative,’ he said, extending a warm invitation to Knesset members to visit India and foster greater dialogue between the lawmakers of both countries.

Delving into economic prospects, PM Modi underscored India’s position as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, poised to enter the top three soon. He reaffirmed commitments to boost trade, enhance investment flows, and collaborate on infrastructure projects, signaling a robust future for bilateral economic engagement.

Drawing parallels between ancient civilizations, Modi evoked philosophical synergies. Israel’s ‘Tikkun Olam’—repairing the world—resonates with India’s ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ the world as one family. These principles, he noted, transcend borders, urging collective responsibility for global betterment.

The event underscores a new chapter in India-Israel relations, built on decades of strategic collaboration in defense, technology, and innovation. As both nations navigate global challenges, this honor symbolizes unwavering solidarity and shared aspirations for peace and prosperity.
