In the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting at Brown University, the FBI has released a new video showcasing the movements of a “person of interest.” The nearly five-minute clip offers critical insights into the individual’s actions hours before the violent incident that resulted in two fatalities and multiple injuries on the Providence campus.
The video, presented by FBI Director Kash Patel, captures the individual navigating the area. The suspect appears to be wearing headwear that obscures the lower half of their face. While no weapon is apparent in the footage, authorities have issued a warning that the person of interest may be armed and poses a danger.
This release is a significant step after investigators previously detained and subsequently cleared another individual. The collaborative efforts of the FBI, Providence Police, and Rhode Island State Police are highlighted by this public appeal. Providence Police have also issued a more detailed, zoomed-in version of the video, obtained from the East Side of Providence on the day of the shooting.
The Rhode Island Attorney General has stated that the suspect is considered “likely armed and dangerous.” A reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information that aids in the identification and apprehension of the perpetrator. The governor has reiterated the state’s unwavering resolve to find and prosecute the individual responsible for this heinous crime.
