Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent statements in the United States, where he asserted Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities and implied a willingness to risk global destruction, have heightened international concern. This has fueled demands for Pakistan to become a nuclear-free nation. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has questioned the safety of nuclear weapons in the hands of a ‘rogue nation,’ advocating for IAEA monitoring of Pakistan’s arsenal. Calls for Pakistan’s denuclearization are growing, with many nations viewing its nuclear program as a dangerous black market, potentially providing terrorists access to these weapons. Furthermore, Pakistan’s alleged practice of renting out its nuclear weapons is raising alarms, especially due to the risk of these arms falling into the wrong hands.
