Serious allegations have been made against Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Asim Munir, by Aleema Khan, the sister of detained former Prime Minister Imran Khan. During an interview, Khan labeled Munir a “radicalized Islamist” and claimed he harbors a strong desire for a full-scale war with India. She explained that Munir’s “Islamic radicalization and conservatism” are the driving forces behind his aggressive stance towards countries that do not follow Islam.
Aleema Khan contrasted this with her brother’s approach, describing Imran Khan as a “pure liberal” who consistently sought friendly relations with India and the BJP. She predicted that Imran Khan’s leadership would lead to improved ties, while General Munir’s influence would inevitably result in conflict, affecting not only India but its allies as well.
Adding to the political friction, Imran Khan has denounced General Munir from prison as a “mentally unstable tyrant.” He accused the army chief of fabricating charges against him and his wife, Bushra Bibi, and alleged they have been subjected to “severe mental torture.” Khan asserted that his prison conditions are akin to death row and described his treatment as worse than that of animals. He also blamed Munir’s policies for the rise of terrorism in Pakistan, attributing it to the army chief’s personal interests.
