US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is poised to visit Pakistan, a move that would mark the first such trip in seven years. The visit is expected to take place around October, according to a Pakistani journalist, with both sides currently working to confirm the dates. Pakistani leadership views the visit as significant, and they are eager to welcome Rubio. The potential trip is being interpreted as a policy adjustment by the Trump administration, and Pakistan is actively trying to improve relations with the US. Previously, Pakistani Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the United States twice. Experts suggest the United States has its eye on Pakistan’s valuable rare earth minerals. In a statement marking Pakistan’s Independence Day, Secretary Rubio referenced this interest, highlighting the US’s desire to explore new economic opportunities, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons, and to build strong business partnerships. President Trump has also indicated a deal between the United States and Pakistan to collaborate on the development of Pakistan’s substantial oil reserves, hinting at future possibilities of oil sales to India.
