Former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has broken his silence following his resignation after Gen-Z protests, denying that he had ordered the shooting of demonstrators. Oli, who stepped down on September 9th amid protests over corruption and social media restrictions, made his first public comments. Addressing party members, Oli said he did not order the shooting of protesters during the demonstrations. He pointed out that the weapons used were not those of the police, and questioned who was responsible for the shooting, suggesting it was a planned conspiracy. He also expressed his sadness over the loss of life and criticized the interim government led by Sushila Karki, stating it was formed unconstitutionally. Oli demanded security for himself and other leaders and declared his commitment to remain in the country and rebuild it according to the constitution. Elections are scheduled for March 5, 2026, as announced by the President.
