Nepal’s Interim Prime Minister, Sushila Karki, took office on Sunday. She had been sworn in on the night of September 12th. Upon assuming her duties, Karki stated that those involved in the acts of vandalism would be investigated. She stated that she and her team were not in office to enjoy power, adding that they would not stay in office for more than 6 months. After that, they will hand over the responsibility to the new parliament. Karki announced that people killed in anti-government movements would be declared as martyrs.

Karki said that without the support of the people of Nepal, they cannot succeed. She mentioned that the 27-hour-long movement in Nepal was the first of its kind. She noted that people are demanding economic equality and an end to corruption. She also added that everyone needs to come together to rebuild Nepal. She also said that they will work to strengthen their country. Furthermore, she added that they need to move forward in line with the thinking of the Gen Z generation.
