Benjamin Netanyahu’s ambition to occupy the entirety of Gaza is facing resistance both from the military and the judiciary. IDF Chief Eyal Zamir has openly opposed the plan, deeming it strategically unsound, and challenging the Prime Minister’s strategy. Furthermore, the High Court has blocked a move by Netanyahu to oust the Attorney General, who had presented evidence against him in a corruption investigation. The Attorney General had presented arguments against Netanyahu in a corruption case. Netanyahu, during a high-level meeting, had instructed officials to prepare for the occupation of the 41-kilometer Gaza strip, believing a deal with Hamas was no longer viable.
