Netanyahu to Meet Trump in Washington Amid Iran Tensions

Washington, July 28 – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to sit down with U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the White House. The meeting comes as tensions with Iran continue to dominate regional headlines. A separate, private session will see Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also meet Trump on the same day. Both gatherings are expected to be conducted without a media presence, though the president has a history of opening such talks to reporters at the last minute.

Ahead of the Israeli leader’s arrival, Trump will first meet Zelensky in a similarly closed-door setting. After the Netanyahu‑Trump discussion, the president’s itinerary includes a visit to the National Cathedral for a memorial service honoring Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, an event that Netanyahu is expected to attend as a guest.

Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Littler welcomed his prime minister on the social platform X, describing the Washington visit as another historic stop that underscores the deep alliance between the United States and Israel.

This would be the eighth face‑to‑face encounter between the two leaders since Trump returned to office, and the first since the outbreak of hostilities with Iran. Netanyahu has indicated that the agenda will focus on Iran, regional security and expanding the zone of peace surrounding Israel.

In a parallel development, Iran’s judiciary announced the execution of two men convicted for violent acts during January protests. The court detailed that the defendants attacked police officers with knives, bound them to road signs, dragged them, doused them with gasoline and set them on fire. The executions were carried out publicly in Malekshahr, Isfahan province.
