The recent upheaval in Nepal, marked by violent protests and an attack on the parliament, led to significant political changes, including the resignation of KP Sharma Oli from the Prime Minister’s office. Forced to leave his residence, Oli’s whereabouts became a matter of speculation. It was later revealed that he had been under the protection of the army for nine days. Subsequently, he moved from the army barracks to a private dwelling. This followed the appointment of Sushila Karki as the new Prime Minister. The initial army barracks were located in the Shivapuri forest area, north of Kathmandu. The location of his current residence has not been made public. Reports indicate that KP Oli is now living in a private house in the Gundoo area of Bhaktapur district, about 15 kilometers east of Kathmandu.
Oli resigned as Prime Minister on September 9 during the Gen-Z protests, which also saw his residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur, set ablaze. At the time, he was at the official PM residence. Due to the escalating violence, he was evacuated by an army helicopter. Other prominent political figures, including former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhalanath Khanal, and Madhav Kumar Nepal, were also under army protection for a short period.
