The ongoing conflict in Myanmar is a matter of concern for the entire region, according to Mohammad Yunus. He has noted the increasing difficulty for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh to return home, highlighting the lack of resolution to the Rohingya crisis even after eight years. Yunus pointed out that Bangladesh continues to be compelled to provide refuge to Rohingya fleeing Myanmar. The denial and persecution of Rohingya rights in Rakhine persists, primarily due to the politics of cultural identity.

Currently, approximately 1 million Rohingya refugees reside in Bangladesh. The majority of these refugees live in Cox’s Bazar camps and on Bhasan Char island.
