Peshawar was gripped by fear on Monday morning as heavily armed gunmen launched a brazen attack on the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in the Saddar area. The assault, which began with two substantial explosions shortly after 8 am, was accompanied by persistent gunfire, prompting an immediate security lockdown. The force of the blasts caused damage to nearby buildings, highlighting the intensity of the attack.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police officials confirmed that the explosions were the work of suicide bombers, indicating a sophisticated and dangerous militant operation targeting a key security installation. Security forces swiftly responded, reinforcing the area and initiating an operation to counter the attackers. The city experienced a tense unfolding of events as Saddar Road was closed to traffic.

Residents living in proximity to the FC headquarters relayed accounts of hearing numerous blasts and heavy gunfire, causing widespread alarm. Social media buzzed with reports and visuals from witnesses describing explosion-like sounds in the vicinity of FC Chowk. Police have acknowledged that at least two blasts occurred during the raid.

An ongoing security operation is underway to neutralize the militants. Authorities have not yet provided figures on casualties, emphasizing that the situation is still active. This incident is the latest in a series of violent events across Pakistan, particularly in the northwest, raising serious concerns about regional stability and the effectiveness of existing security protocols. The government is expected to provide further details as the operation progresses.
