Microsoft has recently announced layoff of employees from its gaming division. Under this retrenchment, 86 employees from Skylanders maker Toys for Bob and 76 employees from Call of Duty: Vanguard maker Sledgehammer Games are also said to have lost their jobs. In the first month of this year itself, more than 6,000 employees have been laid off from the gaming sector globally.
Microsoft is laying off so many employees
Microsoft said in late January that it would cut 1,900 jobs from its X-Box, Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax (Bethesda) teams. Let us tell you that in California, due to the 1988 law, it is mandatory for companies to give 60 days notice about reduction of employees. At present, there is no information available as to what assistance the company will provide to the employees affected by the retrenchment. Last year, 10,500 employees working in the gaming sector lost their jobs.
So many employees were laid off last month
According to data from Layoffs, a website that tracks layoffs, between January 1 and January 31 this year, 104 tech companies around the world have laid off more than 28,970 employees.
