Michelle Obama has shared her candid thoughts on whether the United States is truly ready for a woman to hold the presidency, suggesting it may not be the case. Her comments, made while promoting her latest book at an event, come after notable but unsuccessful presidential campaigns by women like Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton. Obama frankly stated, ‘We’ve got a lot of growing up to do, and there are still many men who do not feel they can be led by a woman.’ She also noted that the country has not sufficiently created opportunities for women to reach the top leadership position.

As a highly respected figure in the Democratic Party, Obama is often the subject of speculation regarding a potential presidential run. However, she has consistently rejected these notions. In 2016, she firmly declared, ‘I will not run for president. No, nope, not going to do it.’ These rumors resurfaced once again during the recent election involving Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

During the last election, Obama actively campaigned for Kamala Harris, who was seen as a strong contender for the Democratic nomination. Speaking at a rally in Michigan, she issued a passionate plea against electing Donald Trump, highlighting the potential dangers to women’s health and autonomy. Obama warned, ‘Please, please do not hand our fates over to the likes of Trump, who knows nothing about us and has shown deep contempt for us.’
