Man Practicing Sikh Martial Art Shot Dead by Police in Downtown Los Angeles

In downtown Los Angeles, a Sikh man, Gurpreet Singh, was killed by LAPD officers. The incident began with reports of a man brandishing a blade near the Crypto.com Arena. Singh was engaged in performing Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art, using a ‘khanda’. After initially abandoning his vehicle and attempting to harm himself, he later advanced towards officers with the blade. Police opened fire, mortally wounding Singh. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities have recovered a machete from the scene and are investigating the case. No officers or bystanders were injured during the altercation.
