New Delhi, January 11. As protests rage across Iran over soaring inflation and unemployment, tensions between Washington and Tehran have reached a boiling point. In a bold move, the Iranian Embassy in India shared a video on X featuring Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who directly targeted the United States, declaring that despite all their efforts, America has failed miserably.

Khamenei asserted in the footage that the Islamic Republic of Iran stands strong, powerful, and prosperous today, defying the wishes of its adversaries. ‘Over the past 40 years, they have tried everything possible against us—no decisive action against any country has been spared,’ he stated. He detailed relentless assaults on Iran’s military, security apparatus, economy, culture, and labor sectors, often funded by weak elements abroad.

‘God be praised, the Islamic Republic governs Iran today,’ Khamenei proclaimed. He contrasted this resilience with what might have happened under liberal democracies or sultanates, emphasizing that Iran’s Islamic system has propelled advancements in science, technology, arts, language, and global politics.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the US and Israel of fomenting unrest, likening American tactics to those used elsewhere to incite chaos. Protests erupted on December 28, triggered by a plummeting currency that spiked prices of essentials. To curb violence, authorities shut down internet and mobile services nationwide on Thursday—a blackout lasting over 60 hours with no restoration in sight.

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf issued a stark warning: any US intervention during the demonstrations would prompt strikes on American military and shipping targets, potentially endangering Israel as well. This escalation underscores the fragile balance in the region, where rhetoric could swiftly turn into action.
