KARACHI – Fury swept through Pakistan’s bustling port city of Karachi on Sunday as protesters unleashed chaos outside the US Consulate, enraged by reports of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s death in a US-Israel strike. The incident has ignited fresh tensions across the Middle East, with Iran’s retaliatory moves amplifying regional volatility.

Videos flooding social media captured the raw anger: demonstrators smashing windows and doors of the consulate, hurling stones, and setting fires in a brazen assault on the compound. Clashes erupted between the mob and security forces, turning the streets into a battlefield.

Eyewitness footage showed protesters wielding sticks to shatter glass panes and charging at guard posts. Law enforcement responded decisively, deploying tear gas shells and firing warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd and restore order.

Police resorted to baton charges amid the melee, leaving several individuals injured. Ambulances rushed the wounded to Civil Hospital, as reported by local authorities. The violence disrupted traffic severely, with roads leading to Mai Kolachi from Sultanabad blocked entirely, according to Karachi Traffic Police updates around 11 AM.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjr demanded an immediate report from Additional Inspector General of Police Azad Khan, signaling heightened administrative vigilance. As the dust settles in this port city, the shadow of the Iranian leader’s assassination looms large, keeping security forces on high alert amid simmering unrest.

This outbreak underscores the ripple effects of geopolitical flashpoints, where distant strikes fuel local outrage and test Pakistan’s ability to maintain stability in a powder-keg region.
