New Delhi witnessed a significant diplomatic engagement on Friday as India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held talks with Palestinian Foreign Minister Warsan Agabekian. The meeting focused on bolstering development cooperation, advancing the Gaza peace plan, and addressing broader regional development challenges.

Agabekian arrived in India to participate in the second India-Arab Foreign Ministers’ meeting, underscoring the deepening ties between India and the Arab world alongside Palestine. Jaishankar shared images of the discussion on X, highlighting the productive exchange on the Gaza peace initiative and regional progress. He emphasized reviewing ongoing development partnerships and agreeing on new initiatives to propel them forward.

In her own post on X, Agabekian expressed delight at attending the ministerial conclave, noting it reaffirms the strong partnership between Palestine and India, as well as collaborative efforts with Arab nations. Speaking to IANS on Thursday, she described the upcoming forum as a vital platform for deliberations on the Palestinian issue, Gaza’s reconstruction, the peace plan, and other key matters pertinent to India and the Arab world.

When questioned on India’s potential role in fostering peace between Palestine and Israel, Agabekian praised India’s balanced friendships with both sides. ‘India can play a crucial bridging role, offering ideas and actively participating in peace efforts,’ she stated optimistically.

The dialogue arrives at a critical juncture amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Both leaders reiterated commitments to sustainable development aid and reconstruction in Gaza, signaling India’s continued engagement in Middle Eastern diplomacy. As the India-Arab meeting unfolds, expectations are high for concrete outcomes that could shape regional stability.
