Luxembourg City buzzed with diplomatic energy on Tuesday as India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a significant meeting with Grand Duke Guillaume, the head of state of Luxembourg. This encounter marks a pivotal moment in strengthening ties between the two nations, amid Jaishankar’s official visit to the European financial hub.
Taking to social media platform X, Jaishankar shared a photo of the warm handshake and expressed his honor in meeting the Grand Duke. He conveyed heartfelt greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and praised Guillaume’s positive outlook towards India. ‘I appreciate his efforts to bolster our bilateral partnership,’ Jaishankar noted, highlighting the mutual commitment to deeper collaboration.
Earlier in the day, Jaishankar engaged with Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel, where he outlined promising avenues for cooperation. Emphasizing sectors like fintech, space exploration, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence, the minister underscored the potential for productive joint ventures.
‘I can see we have a very active community here,’ Jaishankar remarked during the discussions. ‘Beyond our solid trade accounts, issues like fintech, space, the entire digital world, and AI present exciting opportunities for us to work together more productively than ever.’
He expressed anticipation for further meetings, confident that open dialogues on global challenges would benefit both countries. The visit underscores Luxembourg’s warm hospitality, with Jaishankar thanking Bettel for personal support in revitalizing bilateral relations.
