In a significant diplomatic engagement at the Munich Security Conference, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held key meetings with his G7 counterparts. The discussions underscored shared priorities, including India’s strong support for UN Security Council reforms.
Jaishankar shared updates on X, posting photos from the meetings. ‘Delighted to meet G7 Foreign Ministers in Munich. UN@80 agenda featured prominently. Reiterated India’s full support for UNSC reform,’ he wrote.
The talks delved into critical global issues like securing maritime communication lines, India’s role as a first responder, enhancing port security, and protecting submarine cable infrastructure. Jaishankar highlighted the convergences between India and the G7 on these fronts.
He also participated in a roundtable hosted by the Ananta Aspen Centre titled ‘Delhi Decides: Mapping India’s Policy Calculus.’ The session emphasized the need for a dynamic and unmatched foreign policy to address multipolar demands, spotlighting the India-EU FTA and India-US trade deal.
The Ananta Aspen Centre, a leading non-partisan think tank in India established in 2004, expressed gratitude for Jaishankar’s insights. Discussions covered India’s development strategy, strategic autonomy amid global shifts, and key partnership options.
This series of interactions reinforces India’s proactive stance in global governance and its commitment to collaborative security frameworks. As the world navigates complex geopolitical landscapes, such dialogues pave the way for stronger multilateral ties.
